Projects

With over a decade of professional experience, my love of learning both about the natural world and within my craft of visual arts has carried me into a vast array of unique and diverse projects, which are showcased here.

My original path in technical illustration gave me core values in draftsmanship and a research-oriented work ethic that helped me grow into vector illustration and graphic design, which I’ve been working in professionally for 7+ years.

My most recent skillset expansion includes a course in UX design, as I believe ever-growing my expertise will help me find the best solutions for any project’s needs, as well as grow my communication library to collaborate better. The work featured here shows how my vast experience allows me to adapt and customize for each project’s scope, supported by years of accumulated proficiency in print and digital materials.

Children’s Education

When designing and illustrating for different stages of learning, I focus on what’s developmentally appropriate for each age group. Research is a key part of my process—it helps me understand not just the content, but how the audience will interact with it. This insight shapes everything from visual hierarchy to color, layout, and style, so the final design is both engaging and effective. This collection features printed and digital materials.

Master’s Thesis

In my Master’s Thesis, I studied the different ways art and design can benefit causes in conservation by exploring two vastly different topics: snaring of African lions, and strandings of whales on the Dutch coast. I worked with Dr. Alexander Braczkowski who is a National Geographic explorer and researches and photographs lion populations in Africa, and scientists at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands. See the entire thesis here.

Rose (they/she)

Originally from Southern California, I have a deep love for learning about the natural world that has inspired my artistic career. With a Bachelor’s in Design and Biology from San Jose State and a Master’s in Scientific Illustration from Zuyd University in the Netherlands, I have tailored my education in art and design to apply to the causes I care about. My lifelong training in traditional fundamental drawing and design techniques have given me extensive anatomical education and draftsmanship skills, allowing me to develop concepts for any project’s purposes.

Passionate about contributing to environmental and social justice, I love to work with scientists, non-profits, creatives, and driven people working to make a difference. Through years of collaborating with scientists, educators, and communicators in diverse fields, I have learned the power of effective communication in creating a unified vision for any team’s mission. I believe in the power of accessible and usable design, and am passionate about bringing this to causes that educate and inspire.
